Zuari Cement strives to prevent, or otherwise minimise, mitigate and remediate the environmental impacts of all the companies activities.

Zuari Cement strongly supports and encourages actions aimed at developing and implementing recognised management systems and voluntary commitments to prevent risks and foster continuous improvement, beyond compliance with applicable environmental laws and regulations.

- Promotes the responsible use of resources to save on fossil fuel and quarried material consumption.
- Support projects to reduce water consumption and preserve water quality.
- Proactively addresses the challenges of climate change ensuring reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, with focus on renewable energy sources and efficient use of energy and resources.
- Ensures that all plants and equipment are designed, operated and maintained to minimise environmental risks, in particular by using best available techniques when installing new facilities and revamping or replacing existing installations, and that risk assessment of major projects includes environmental aspects.
- Prohibits any use of materials with high health concerns while promoting progressive phase-out of those still in use. 6. Develops and implements environmental standards to assess and monitor emissions into the atmosphere and to set related reduction targets.
- Minimizes the generation of hazardous and other waste, promoting reuse and recycle of materials, where feasible, and disposal of waste in a safe and responsible manner.
- Develops rehabilitation plans for all its active quarry operations taking into consideration existing biodiversity and, where feasible, fostering conservation of endangered species, meeting stakeholders’ expectations.
- Conducts regular environmental audits at all of its sites.
- Ensures transparency towards stakeholders, from each site to aggregated Group level, also through the annual Group Sustainable Development Report produced according to GRI requirements and subject to third-party verification.
